Is It In You?

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) and the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine published a report studying the amount of environmental pollutants found in the bodies of nine average people.

They found a total of 167 chemicals present, some of which are carcinogens, neurotoxins, and endocrine disruptors.

Endocrine Disruptors

Some believe that the toxins which act as endocrine disruptors by tricking estrogen receptors (cadmium, HRT, pesticides, DES, PCBs, dioxins, DDT) are directly responsible for the increased rates of estrogen-related cancers like breast, prostate, uterine, cervical and testicular.

Environmental Toxins and Pollution

Environmental pollution and toxins are classified into 2 broad categories:
  1. Man-made chemicals and additives that are known to be dangerous (e.g. Dioxin, Pthalates, PCB's, MTBE) (Details)

  2. Naturally occurring toxic heavy metals, which are amplified in the environment by human activities (e.g. Mercury, Cadmium, Lead) (Details)
Billions of pounds of toxic pollution are released into the atmosphere and environment every year.

This problem is expected to get much worse, mainly due to the numerous government's reckless environmental policies.
